Only yesterday was the time of our lives

The Head and The Heart - The Head and The Heart

Lovely name to begin with, the melodies made are even more wonderful. Very laid back and easy listening vibe, with the folk-country sounds, harmonizing vocals, it's like food for the soul. I cant really put down this album without listening to the whole thing. Deep yet modest lyrics would unwind you off your worries. Heart throbbing lyrics such as "Lord have mercy on my rough and rowdy ways," a line from 'Down in the valley' and songs about friends, relationships and affairs in "Rivers and Roads" paints hope and faith to the heart. Their songs kicks a lot of positive emotions and lifts you up high in the clouds. This would be the band that would be playing in your coffee shop and you would sit down, listen, and appreciate. This band certainly has depth and at the same time it portrays to be on the surface. If you like Mumford and Sons or Seabear, like me, you'd probably love The Head and The Heart.

 Villagers - Becoming a Jackal

With a bold subtitle for an album, this band has come with good sounds. Soulful, thick, deep acoustics. The frontman reminds me of Alex Turner from The Last Shadow Puppets, yet he sounds a lot more mellow than Alex is. Doesn't make it less good, just another mood to settle for. The guitar strumming does gives the mood of listening to Joshua Radin, but its more on a darker setting. Its interesting how he sings about the dark, lines of confessions, sounds of the soul, poetry of existence. The title speaks for itself. In my opinion, its a reflection to one's soul in the dark gloomy days. However, there's a few songs that does reflect the light. With a more catchy tune, "The Pact (I'll Be Your Fever)" does make you sway unconsciously. This band sounds similar to Little Joy, Slow Club, Jack Johnson, Joshua Radin.

Eddie Vedder - Ukelele Songs

Been following him since Into The Wild. One of my favorite Magnificent vocals, depth history as a singer/songwriter and now coming up with songs with ukelele, what more can you ask for. No doubt you can just ease your head down and let him take you away. In this album, It does come up strong at first, but the sound of his deep voice and the swift strumming of the ukelele would just sweep you off your feet.

Bon Iver - Bon Iver

Seen them everywhere now, they're still real fantastic! Bon Iver offers a different tune to ease up upon. In some of his songs, he does sound a bit like Sting to me, but definitely a different kind of genre. Folk-acoustics with synchronize singing and harmonizing gives a big kick. Songs that you can breathe with, and take you off to a place, where there's blue skies and green trees and grass. Silence that means so much. Sounds of melancholy, self-reflect and sincerity. Hypnotic melodies would chant you to keep listening to this master piece.

Campfire OK - Strange Like We Are

Bryan John Appleby, one of the members of this band brought me here with his own song. Discovering this band and watching them play together is amazing. Each of them offers something magnificent and when they come together, its breath-taking. Campfire OK offers more soothing and exciting folk sounds. Goes smoothly with splitscreens and roadtrips, the powerful vocals, lovely melodies by the keys and the brass, gives out a thick and soulful symphony. They do sound a lot like Arcade Fire and Mumford and Sons. There's also similar sounds to The Black Atlantic and Cloud Cult.

The Paper Kites - Woodland EP
One of the most wonderful band of the century. Creating such a lovely melody, you just cant resist but to love it. i fell inlove the moment i discovered em. I'm still waiting for a friend to get the album for me. You can also find them on the itunes store, buy it, its worth it. Their songs are self-explained on how gorgeous they are. Give it a go, just be prepared to fall inlove. Here are some of their songs, and they're my fav, all of em!

"... Ron, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But when you become accustomed to such life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty." - Chris McCandless, Letter to Franz, Anza-Borrego, Into The Wild

If i knew all the words, i would write myself out here. Stay where the light is, may your journey be the best for you, go to the edge of the earth, pursue the box of Pandora. However, please don't forget me as you have left your thumbprint in me

Here's Some Company for You

Frankly, i've been too busy doing nothing. Missed last month's post, but i'll make it up by giving ya'll these. Some are new and some are old, i just want to share with you. I just discover most of em', so, we'll be enjoying them together :D

The Black Atlantic - Reverence for fallen trees (extended edition)

Slow & Steady. The band offers soothing sounds and dreamy melodies that would make you swim in your sea of thoughts and float on your emotions. The perfect sounds for staring outside the window in a bus, watching things go by, observing the sky, imagining you can fly. Quiet days wont be so quiet anymore.

The Naked And Famous - Passive Me - Aggressive You

Lovin' the heavy/light sounds they carry and the throbbing vocals are psychedelic. The pop-ish beats of the synth and the voices of their frontman + frontwoman are just right!
The old school-pop sound with heavy lyrics would definitely get u hooked.

The Crookes - Dreams of Another Day

I fell in love straight away. Oldies in this generation is totally my style. Such a groove, yet so smooth. I'd totally do the twist to this. This band would easily fit into the old-school playlist that consist of the Wonders's That Thing You Do, Kenny Loggins's Footlose, The Clash and The Smith. With the pure sounds, these geniuses definitely deserves a go on your eardrums.

The Crookes - Chasing After Ghost

A continuation of their brilliance. They've just released another album recently,  but i think they're THAT good that i think you should listen to both of them. Enjoy.

Rumer - Seasons of My Soul

Gorgeous. Her majestic and powerful voice would make you go woo. As stated by my friend, her nostalgic voice is "... this decade's Karen Carpenter". Additional to that, her style reminds me of Astrud Gilberto, lovely and graceful.  Definitely worth listening to. Modern blues with some jazzy-bossa melodies. Wonderful.

Thao Nguyen and The Get Down Stay Down - We Brave Bee Stings and All

Playful and fun! You'll go through your day with sunshine and rainbows. Although this is an old album(2007), more people should listen to them. Their songs makes you feel the cheeky, especially "Bag of Hammers" with their Ha-Ha-Ha's. Their music is a mixture of Jack Johnson and Emmy The Great. You can listen to Thoa's excitement channeling, bursting through her music with such enthusiasm.

The creative sounds in the background and her uplifting lyrics are exploding with expressions.

Little Joy - Little Joy

The Next Time Around

As a fan of The Strokes, I've followed the band members individually. The drummer, Fabrizio Moretti has his own side project, despite his other band members. His approach struck a different kind of sound, instead of hitting, he strums and hums. This band sounds very soothing and laid back yet makes you swim in its very catchy beats and very adorable lyrics.
